Hotwork-Plastic Mold

H13 is a 5 wt.% chromium hot work steel. Compared to H11, H13 has a higher hot wear resistance due to its higher C- and V-concentration; however, its toughness potential is lower. In the case of very high demands on the heat checking resistance, the material should be used in the electroslag-remelted condition (ESR). H13 is used for all common hot work tools: die casting molds, casting chambers, forging dies, extrusion dies, hot rolling rolls, and many others.

L6 is a Ni-alloyed hot work steel with high toughness and good hardenability. The material is mainly used for dies and die holders of hot work tools; however, in some cases L6 is also used for cold work applications due to its high toughness (shredder hammers, shredder knives).

V44® is a Sulphur alloyed and pre-hardened H13 hot work steel. It is supplied with a hardness of 42-46 HRC. Due to the Sulphur additions, it has an improved machinability in the pre-hardened condition. It is used for forging dies, plastic molds, extrusion tools, and other hot work tools.
