High Speed
M2 (1.3343 / HS6-5-2C)
M2 is the most utilized high-speed steel in the marketplace. It is characterized by high hot wear resistance and has good toughness even in the hardened state. The M2 was originally developed for cutting tools such as turning tools, drills, milling cutters and broaches. However, nowadays it is also widely used for cold work such as punches, thread rolling dies and rolls, and knives.
M4 (1.3351 / HS6-5-4)
M2 is the most utilized high-speed steel in the marketplace. It is characterized by high hot wear resistance and has good toughness even in the hardened state. The M2 was originally developed for cutting tools such as turning tools, drills, milling cutters and broaches. However, nowadays it is also widely used for cold work such as punches, thread rolling dies and rolls, and knives.
M42 (1.3247 / HS2-9-1-8)
M42 is a Co-alloyed high-speed steel. Cobalt increases the tempering resistance and hot wear resistance. M42 is used for machining of difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium.
